Hello and thank you for visiting Alight Arts!

I’m Leslie the owner, operator and sole artist of Alight Arts. I live in Hamilton, Ontario with my husband and fur babies. I love wine, travelling and of course dogs.

I started Alight Arts as a way for me to relax and express my creativity; I have always been into arts and crafts, and most times I am looking up how to DIY something myself rather than buying mass produced items. When I discovered this new (but actually very old) medium I fell in love!

Pyrography (roughly translates to write with fire) is the art of burning designs onto surfaces and is the medium that Alight Arts is born from. My craft is low tech; it consists of me, the surface and my wood burner - well and of course the perfect subject. My specialty is Pet Portraits; each portrait is uniquely YOUR pet, there are absolutely no two alike and I hope my work can help you keep a little part of them with you forever. 

So why Alight Arts?

The word alight has several meanings, two of which have meaning to me. First if something is alight it is on fire or burning, and secondly it can be used in a phrase. To alight on something is to find something by chance,
